      Critics Consensus

Scoop wrings riveting drama out of its real-life story, even if the actual interview footage remains an arguably superior watch.

Robert Levin Newsday The depiction of the hard, gritty work of journalism is believable, but it doesn't make for especially engaging drama. Rated: 2.5/4 May 3, 2024 Full Review Peter Rainer FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It's very crisp and effective... You obviously know where it's going, but it's effective for what it does. Apr 17, 2024 Full Review Clarisse Loughrey Independent (UK) Scoop, which declares it a job-well-done simply to see a man stripped of honorary titles without ever having to defend himself in a criminal court, fails to make the argument for why any of this mattered beyond making good TV. Rated: 3/5 Apr 8, 2024 Full Review Sarah Marrs Lainey Gossip Scoop is an entertaining examination of one of the most incredible public meltdowns in recent memory. May 29, 2024 Full Review James Mottram South China Morning Post The script by Peter Moffat and Geoff Bussetil doesn’t offer any major revelations, especially if you’ve paid attention to the various Epstein documentaries and podcasts. ... That said, there are some nice details. Rated: 3.5/5 May 10, 2024 Full Review Jane Freebury Jane Freebury Handsomely mounted, this account of sordid recent history reminds how a senior British royal (terrifically well played by Sewell) was, because of bad behaviour and a startling lack of contrition, the architect of his own undoing Rated: 4/5 Apr 29, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Alejandro E If this journalistic drama has its own light, it is because it follows a scandal that occurred in real life; and inspires curiosity to find out more about the events. And that's what mostly counts. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/25/24 Full Review Grant H Highly watchable, nailing all the important parts of this sad episode where a supposed "royal" was made to foolish, dishonest and a predator. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/22/24 Full Review acsdoug D Rufus Sewell is terrific and the story held my interest even though I don't care about any of this stuff in real life. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/22/24 Full Review Andrei D Sewell works, the others are good, the movie feels a little unnecessary Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/21/24 Full Review Mick M This is another poor excuse of a spotlight ripoff and the reason it never works is because it takes itself too seriously. Movies like this and others (i.e. Bombshells, She Said) Spotlight wasn't making the journalists out to be heroes, we just watched them do their jobs. These movies play for hero-worship of the journalist over Gotcha moments, and this one did it poorly. Thanks for reading, Mick Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/16/24 Full Review Summer H It was a good movie but as someone who had no idea how big of am impact this in real life interview had on his career, it was just another story about Jeffrey Epstein which their are plenty of.
