Stephen O Slow, tedious and takes liberty with historical facts. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/16/24 Full Review Elle R This show is so good! So well done and the cast is unbelievable. Brilliant limited series and I foresee awards noms for the cast for sure. Amazing show. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Chris R An important chapter pre-loaded with drama feels flat and even boring here. Seven installments feels like four too many for one thing. It's a 12-day period. The other problem, and I hate to say this, is the acting. Tobias Menzies caught my attention in GoT and Outlander, but here he has one facial tic and a growl. It's not enough to make him a compelling protagonist. The others are mostly awful. Boyle's Booth is maniacal, but unsympathetic... more like pathetic. Hamish Linklater has a few good scenes, not including his introduction which is goofy. And what the hell is Patton Oswald doing here, other than being Patton Oswald in a fake beard? Not getting a fake beard: Menzies. Look up a picture of Edwin Stanton and see if you think Menzies makes it happen on screen. John Billingsley is excellent, as always, as is the guy playing a sleazy Johnson. Also on the plus side, the production values are mostly good, with a few actual locations thrown in. (They blow it by saying Booth is shot in the back of the head "just like Lincoln." It was the neck, and he hung on for three days.) Bottom line: this script sounds like summer stock actors of the 2020s reenacting the tragic epilogue of the Civil War. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/13/24 Full Review Kate C I love history, especially from this era, so I was thrilled when I found this show. I coasted on that excitement for the first 4ish episodes, but now I'm on the sixth and the writing has utterly deflated. I feel like I'm reading a college essay from a promising student who started with a solid thesis and opening argument, but rushed the conclusion so they could turn it in on time. The actors are good, but there's only so much they can do. I'll still watch til the end—maybe they'll pull a rabbit out of a hat when I least expect it. But probably not. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/13/24 Full Review Chavel D Very good series. The acting is good. Gives you a better insight into the conspiracy to kill President Lincoln. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/13/24 Full Review Craig B Really enjoy this show. We all know about Booth and his capture but I at least I had no idea of the backstory behind it. The man who plays Edwin Stanton is excellent. Great historical drama if you like that sort of thing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/07/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Verne Gay Newsday Cerebral, engrossing. Rated: 3.5/4 Apr 8, 2024 Full Review Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times The series is well furnished and costumed and moves with pep through its alternating scenes of action and reflection; it is various enough not to get dull. Mar 20, 2024 Full Review Brian Lowry The show lacks the narrative momentum the title would suggest, feeling a little too much like homework by landing in a no-man’s land that doesn’t find the sweet spot between politics and true crime. Mar 19, 2024 Full Review Emiliano Basile EscribiendoCine Manhunt stands out not only for its plot and technical execution but also for its ability to shed light on a relevant historical event with nods to the present day.
