      Critics Consensus

A modern noir steeped in the classic tradition, Sugar could use stronger clues to go along with its ample style, but Colin Farrell's cool performance keeps things compelling.

Can't wait to see the next on Friday. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/15/24 Full Review Seb T Simply stunning. I have seen the first two episodes only and this is really a great surprise for me. The editing is really well done, the score is also quite nice match. Colin Farrel is quite convincing in his role and don't get me wrong others actors are quite good too ! Honesty so far, except catching fly with the chopsticks it has been a pure pleasure. I real look forward to the rest of the series. Kudos. Sophie Gilbert The Atlantic Billed as “genre-bending,” spanning film noir, sci-fi, and Westerns, with some global gangster intrigue thrown into the mix. What it really is, though, is a surprisingly good crime drama with an awful lot of unnecessary adornment Apr 15, 2024 Full Review Lauren Sarner New York Post It’s like a checklist of the genre, but it’s light on its feet and proceeds smoothly enough that it doesn’t feel like a mere checklist. Apr 8, 2024 Full Review Alan Sepinwall Rolling Stone Please. People want to see the show you are trying to make, not an endless warm-up for that show. Apr 5, 2024 Full Review Valentina Morillo El Español (Spain) Sugar is visually exquisite and an irresistible treat for lovers of classic film noir, but the key to its charm is the performance of Colin Farrell, who makes us fall in love with his character immediately and inevitably. Apr 16, 2024 Full Review Harry Guerin RTÉ (Ireland) As the street-smart and suave hero, Farrell splices together toughness with wide-eyed wonder of the world and the people in it. Apr 12, 2024 Full Review Jared Mobarak Hey, Have You Seen ...? Regardless, I still really enjoyed SUGAR and Farrell's work within. Step back from that structural misstep and there's a ton to like from the production value, classic cinema angle, and impressive cast. Rated: 7/10 Apr 12, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews
